Boiler installations

Boiler installations and replacements in Plymouth

New boilers and full replacements for homes across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall. Dale assesses the property first, recommends what actually suits it, and puts the price in writing before any work is booked.

Quotations for boiler installations are free and carry no obligation. Nothing is booked until Dale replies and confirms it with you.

What happens

From first message to handover

A boiler installation is a decision about your home, so it is worth doing in the right order. Here is exactly how Dale works.

  1. 1. You get in touch

WhatsApp is quickest, but a call or the enquiry form works just as well. Tell Dale your postcode, what you have now and what you would like to change. Photos of the existing boiler and its location are genuinely useful.

  2. 2. Dale visits and assesses

He looks at the existing system, the pipework, the flue route, where the boiler can go and how much hot water the household actually uses. This is the part that decides which boiler is right — not a price list.

  3. 3. You get a written quotation

The quotation sets out the boiler, the work involved and the cost. There is no obligation and no charge for the quotation itself. If something needs to be clarified, ask before agreeing anything.

  4. 4. The installation is agreed and booked

Once you are happy, a date is agreed. Dale will tell you what to expect on the day, how long it should take and whether the water or heating will be off at any point.

  5. 5. Handover

When the work is finished, Dale shows you how the new controls work, leaves the paperwork you need, and explains what to do if anything is not right afterwards.

Boiler brands

Worcester Bosch and Ideal are the usual choices

Dale fits boilers across the main manufacturers, but he most often works with Worcester Bosch and Ideal. Those are the brands he knows best and is comfortable standing behind.

If you have a particular model in mind, just ask — he will tell you whether it suits your property.

Which boiler depends on the property

  • How many bathrooms and how much hot water the household uses at peak times.
  • Whether you have a hot water cylinder and tanks, or want them gone.
  • The available space and where the flue can legally and safely run.
  • The condition of the existing pipework and radiators.
  • Whether the gas supply needs upgrading to suit the new boiler.
  • What the budget actually is — there is no point quoting something unsuitable.

This is why the assessment visit matters. Two houses on the same street can need genuinely different boilers.

Timing

Signs it is time to replace rather than repair

  • Your boiler has been condemned at a service or gas safety check.
  • Repairs are becoming frequent and the boiler is over ten years old.
  • You want to move from a back boiler, floor-standing boiler or old conventional system to something more efficient.
  • You are removing a hot water cylinder and tank in the loft to free up space.
  • You are fitting a new kitchen or bathroom and want the heating and hot water planned properly.
  • You have bought a property and do not know the age or condition of the boiler.

None of these automatically means a new boiler. If a repair is the sensible, cheaper answer, Dale will say so.

Warranties and guarantees

What is covered

Dale gives a one-year workmanship guarantee on his installation work, subject to the agreed scope and terms of the job. That is his own guarantee and it is separate from anything the manufacturer provides.

Boiler warranties start from five years depending on the boiler and the manufacturer’s terms. The exact length and conditions vary by model, so the exact figure for your boiler will be confirmed in writing with your quotation.

Longer warranties usually depend on the installation being registered, the system being cleaned properly and the boiler being serviced annually. Dale will explain what is required in your case.

Nothing on this page is a price list. The cost of a boiler installation depends on the boiler, the property and the work involved, so the only honest figure is the one in your written quotation.

If you can smell gas or suspect a leak, call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999 straight away, day or night. That line is run by the gas networks and is free to call. Dale is a separate commercial service — contact him on 07872 553694 for boiler and heating faults.

Questions customers ask

Straight answers before you commit

If your question is not here, ask Dale directly — he would rather answer it now than have you guessing.

How much does a new boiler cost?

It depends on the boiler, the property and the work involved, so there is no honest single figure. Two houses on the same street can need genuinely different boilers and different amounts of pipework. What you get from Dale is a written quotation for your actual job, free and with no obligation — not a headline price that changes once work starts.

Is the quotation really free?

Yes. Quotations for boiler installations are free and there is no charge for the assessment visit that leads to one. There is also no obligation to go ahead, and no pressure to decide on the day.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward replacement is often done in a day, while a change of boiler type or a system that needs additional work takes longer. Dale will tell you what to expect for your job when he quotes, including whether the water or heating will be off at any point.

How long is the boiler warranty?

Boiler warranties start from five years depending on the boiler and the manufacturer's terms. The exact length and conditions vary by model, so the specific figure for your boiler is confirmed in writing with your quotation. Longer warranties usually depend on the installation being registered, the system being cleaned properly and the boiler being serviced annually.

Do you guarantee your own work?

Yes — Dale gives a one-year workmanship guarantee on his installation work, subject to the agreed scope and terms of the job. That is his own guarantee and is separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the boiler itself.

Which boiler brands do you fit?

Dale fits boilers from all the main manufacturers, and most often works with Worcester Bosch and Ideal. If you want a particular model, just ask and he will tell you whether it suits your property.

Will I need a power flush or a system clean?

Often yes, particularly on an older system. Sludge and debris left in the pipework will simply move into the new boiler, which is a common reason new boilers underperform. Dale will tell you whether your system needs cleaning and include it in the quotation rather than leaving it as a surprise.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Dale can give you a rough steer over WhatsApp if you send photos of your current boiler, its location and any information you have. A firm written quotation normally needs him to see the property, because flue routes, pipework and the gas supply all affect the job.

Do you cover my area?

Dale is based in Plymouth and covers Devon and Cornwall. Availability and any travel charge depend on where you are, and both are confirmed with you before anything is agreed — never afterwards.

What happens if something goes wrong afterwards?

You ring Dale directly on the number on this site. There is no call centre and no separate service department — you speak to the person who did the work.
